AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A delegation of Iranian Quranic managers who have traveled to Iraq took part in a Quranic program at the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS).
During the event, held on Saturday, 1,400 memorizers of the entire Quran from different parts of Iraq were honored.
The delegation has traveled to the Arab country at the invitation of the Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS).
During the trip, the delegation also held talks with Iraqi religious and Quranic officials on development joint cooperation.
Veteran Quran activist Heidar Kasmaei, Head of Dar-ol-Quran Karim Organization Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Taqizadeh, Head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization’s Quranic Affairs Center Hamid Majidimehr, Director of the Quran TV Mohammad Hossein Kashkuli and Culture and Islamic Guidance Ministry’s Quran and Etrat Deputy official Hojat-ol-Islam Mehdi Shoja are the members of the delegation.
Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.
There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the Arab country in recent years.
Iran and Iraq have also developed their cooperation in Quranic and religious fields in recent years.
