AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A senior Iranian jurist has called efforts to find and introduce common values to Muslims as key to maintain solidarity in the world of Islam.
Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, in a message to the 37th Islamic Unity Conference, has called on the Muslim scholars across the globe to derive the shared assets and beliefs from Islamic resources and introduce them to Muslims.
“This conference with the theme “Cooperation to Achieve Common Values” has in fact provided the Muslim elites with a valuable opportunity to cooperate for deriving these commonalities from the Islamic references” said the top scholar and added,” The endeavor would make a giant move in line with materializing the unified Islamic ummah.”
Ayatollah Makarem warned,” Enemies have always set the disagreements and differences among the ethnic groups as a tool to inflict blows to the world of Islam.”
The senior cleric called on all Muslims to maintain vigilance against the recurrent plots by enemies.
The message by prominent Shia cleric was read at the opening ceremony of the 37th Islamic Unity Conference held in the capital Tehran on Sunday morning.
The 37th International Islamic Unity Conference is underway as hundreds of Shia and Sunni elites and religious figures from across the world on 28th September to 3rd October 2023.
As organized by Iran’s World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, this year the meeting focuses on the theme “Islamic Cooperation to Achieve Common Values.” The event is annually held concurrent with the Islamic Unity Week which marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
