AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Attended by the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt
(a.s.) World Assembly, the conference “Muslim Youth: Faith, Science,
Technology; and the Future of Africa” was held in Nairobi, Kenya.
The conference was held with the participation of young Muslims following AhlulBayt (a.s.) from Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Congo Kinshasa, and Burundi, in the “Jafari Islamic Center.”
At this conference, Hojat al-Islam Sheikh Ali Samoja, a prominent Kenyan cleric and Imam of the Jafari Islamic Center of the country, expressed, “With the help of faith, we can become strong, rely on ourselves, and overcome hardships.”
Referring to the hadiths of the AhlulBayt (a.s.), he said, “We should strive to be an ornament for AhlulBayt (a.s.) and show the shining face of Muslims at a time when many people are trying to tarnish the face of Islam.”
In this conference Ayatollah Reza Ramazani Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly participated as a special guest. While pointing out the importance of Africa, the youth, and their role in scientific and social interactions, he said, “Make yourself strong scientifically and be active in universities.”
“We must prove to the world that the scientific power of Muslims can reach the peak like it was in the past, and Muslims can have high scientific power; even though significant progress has already been made in different regions and countries and we are proud of it, and they should be imitated,” he added.
“We must be careful not to depend on others scientifically,” the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly emphasized, “We must identify all aspects of Islam more precisely and apply all of them. Of course, some people try to keep the social dimension of religion neglected, and to confront such an idea, it is necessary to have a comprehensive view of Islam and promote it.”
It is worth mentioning that among the other programs of this conference was the formation of various commissions to examine the issues of Muslim youth and discuss and exchange opinions about them.
The conference commenced with reciting verses of the Holy Quran and playing the East African anthem as well as the national anthem of Kenya.
