Mosques in Australia to hold ‘Open Day’ event

The tenth National Mosque Open Day (NMOD) will take place on Saturday 28 October, an event that invites Australians of all backgrounds to visit their local mosques and learn more about Islam and its culture.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The tenth National Mosque Open Day (NMOD) will take place on Saturday 28 October, an event that invites Australians of all backgrounds to visit their local mosques and learn more about Islam and its culture.

The initiative, organised by the Lebanese Muslim Association (LMA), aims to foster interfaith understanding and community inclusion, as well as counteract prejudice and Islamophobia.

Almost 200 mosques from all states and territories have been invited to participate in NMOD, which was launched by the LMA in 2014. The LMA will support the participating mosques with Qurans, information leaflets, digital marketing and promotional artwork.

The LMA's three mosques in Lakemba, Cabramatta and Young will also host special activities for NMOD.

The LMA's religious administrator Salim Allouche said that NMOD was a great opportunity for Australians to get to know their Muslim neighbours and appreciate their diversity and contributions.

“In 2022, mosques from seven of Australia’s eight states and territories were involved in NMOD but this year we have invited more masjids than ever before … Almost 200 Invitations have been sent out to mosques in all areas – from the major masjids in the capital cities to smaller venues in regional areas throughout Australia,” he told AMUST.

He encouraged people to mark down the date in their diaries and visit the LMA website for more information on the participating mosques and updates.
