Those serving in one of the largest Moukebs in the holy city of Karbala bid farewell to Arbaeen pilgrims by gifting them copies of the Quran.

The Quran copies are presented to the pilgrims at the Moukeb set up in the city by the Haidariyun Brigade, which is affiliated to Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), aka Hashd al-Shaabi.

Moukebs are resting places with special facilities and services for pilgrims set up on roads leading to Karbala and in the holy city during the Arbaeen pilgrimage.

In another moved aimed at honoring the Quran during the Arbaeen season, a group of pilgrims put on display large pages of the Holy Quran at Bain-ul-Haramain in Karbala.

Members of the Iraqi group called ‘Bani Amer’, from Basra, arrived at the holy shrines of Imam Hussein (AS) and Hazrat Abbas (AS) in Karbala on Tuesday.

Wearing white dresses, they showcased several verses of the Holy Quran using large mosaics which have been captured by drone footage.

This year’s Arbaeen comes amid a new wave of acts of Quran desecration in Europe under the guise of freedom of speech.

Numerous programs and campaigns have been held this year to honor the Holy Quran during the Arbaeen march by millions of pilgrims who undertake the kilometers-long journey on foot.

The Arbaeen mourning ceremony stands as an extraordinary and colossal religious congregation on a global scale, with more than 20 million pilgrims in attendance.

This profound event signifies the 40th day following Ashura, the solemn commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the revered grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
