Arbaeen, or the 40 days after Ashura is the commemoration of the martyrdom of the Prophet Mohammed’s grandson Hussain, who was martyred in the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD on the 10th day of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar.
Delivering a speech at a ceremony on Wednesday in Darmian city of South Khorasan Province, east of the country, Ebrahim Raisi called Arbaeen occasion an inclusive current as vast as the Islamic world.
Raisi said the large gatherings on the occasion of Arbaeen, either in Iran or across the Islamic world, means renewal of allegiance with Imam Hussain (AS) and his great cause, that is seeking justice and fighting against oppression.
He called Arbaeen March a great event which is the manifestation of Islamic unity and resistance, where different nationalities, religious sects, Shia and Sunni participate and show Islamic unity, and the one promising the reappearance of the Promised Savior Imam Mahdi (AS) and the formation Islamic civilization.
The Iranian president said that Western media imperialism censors such a great global event but never would succeed in stopping the justice-seeking cause because Allah Al-Mighty wants Imam Hussain (AS) and his love to sit amid the heart of the people.
