A scholar and thinker from Morocco stressed the need for presenting the Arbaeen discourse to the world.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A scholar and thinker from Morocco stressed the need for presenting the Arbaeen discourse to the world.

Addressing an international conference on “Political Discourse Strategies of Arbaeen in the International Arena”, Professor Idris Hani said Muslim world scholars and thinkers should promote this discourse as Imam Hussein (AS) is the best role model in the field of freedom-seeking and justice seeking in the world.

He said Imam Hussein (AS) revived Islam at a time when Bani Umayya rulers had distorted Islamic concepts and the religion.

The professor of the University of Rabat’s Faculty of Theology added that with what he did in Karbala, Imam Hussein (AS) become a lasting figure in history.

Imam Hussein (AS) rose up for justice and true freedom, Hani underlined.

He further said it is necessary today that the annual Arbaeen march be used as an opportunity to convey the message of Imam Hussein (AS) uprising to the people of the world.

He went on to say that innovative moves are needed to introduce Imam Hussein (AS) and his great uprising to the people of the world and remind them of the magnificence of the event of Karbala and an uprising that happened to save humanity from arrogance and slavery.

The international conference on “Political Discourse Strategies of Arbaeen in the International Arena” was held virtually and in person on Wednesday morning, ahead of the annual Arbaeen march.

It was organized by the Research Institute for Islamic Culture and Thought in cooperation with the International Quran News Agency (IQNA), the Arbaeen Cultural Committee and a number of other institutes.

The Arbaeen mourning ceremony is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.

It marks the 40th day after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), Imam Hussein (AS). This year’s Arbaeen will fall on September 6.

Each year, a huge crowd of Shias flock to Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites.

The pilgrims, mainly from Iraq and Iran, travel long routes on foot to the holy city.

Earlier this month, Iraqi officials expressed their readiness to host up to five million pilgrims from different countries during the Arbaeen season.
