AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Saudi Arabia has introduced a visa waiver for British nationals, paving the way for an easier Umrah pilgrimage.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia has announced the launch of a new Electronic Visa Waiver (EVW) for citizens of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The EVW allows British nationals to visit Saudi Arabia without obtaining a visit visa in advance of travel and to stay for up to six months on a single entry.
The ministry stated that the EVW is available for British nationals who wish to visit Saudi Arabia for various purposes, including performing Umrah in the holy cities of Mecca and Madinah.
The EVW can be obtained by completing an online application form on the Unified National Visa Platform at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“This is great news! Every time my family and I wanted to visit Saudi Arabia in the past it had always been such a hassle for my husband and took months sometimes just to see whether we can get an Umrah visa or a visitor one, but now that you can visit the entire country, while visiting Makkah and Madinah, is the most amazing thing ever,” Saba Aftab, a UK citizen from Manchester told The National.
The application can be submitted between 90 days and 48 hours before the intended date of travel to Saudi Arabia. The approval will be sent via e-mail within 24 hours of applying.
