Photos: Traditional Dast-e Choobi ritual in Muharram in Gorgan, Iran

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Dast-e Choobi is a traditional ritual annually performed by people in Gorgan, in northern Iran, on the eve of the of 12th of Muharram – the first month of Islamic year – to mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), who was martyred along his companions in the 10thof Muharram in Karbala in 680 CE. During the ceremony, the mourners walk as they raise a long wood with one hand and hit their chest.
