The 10th of Muharram, better known as Ashura, is a significant day for Muslims around the world, and also in India, as the day marks the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala in 680 CE.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The 10th of Muharram, better known as Ashura, is a significant day for Muslims around the world, and also in India, as the day marks the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala in 680 CE.

The Hussaini Federation and TheKarbala.net in Mumbai, a city in western India, organized a Juloos (procession) on the occasion of Ashura on July 29, 2023, IRNA reported from India on Saturday.

The procession was attended by thousands of people who came together to pay their respects to Imam Hussain (AS) and remember his self-sacrifice, which is annually remembered by Shia Muslims worldwide.

The Juloos started from Zainabia Imambargha in Dongri, a port Indian city in the north of Mumbai, and ended at Rehmatabad Kabristan, a Shia cemetery in the south of Mumbai.

The participants carried banners and placards with messages of love and respect for Imam Hussain (AS) and his family. They also recited Nauhas (elegy) and performed Matam (lamentation for the Imam's martyrdom) to mourn the loss of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions.

The event was led by many respected Ulema, including Maulana Najeeb Ul Hasan, Maulana Aziz Haider, Maulana Mohammad Kararvi, and several others who emphasized the importance of following the teachings of Imam Hussain (AS) in daily lives and standing up against injustice and oppression.

The respected scholars were also seen holding copies of the holy Quran in their hands as a mark of respect.

During the Juloos, the organizers urged the community to boycott Swedish products because the country has recently permitted some individuals to burn copies of the holy Quran. The incident sparked outrage worldwide.

The organizers emphasized that disrespect to Quran is not acceptable in any form, and urged Muslims to stand up against such insulting acts.

The Juloos as a powerful reminder of the sacrifice made by Imam Hussain (AS) and his 72 companions in Karbala also highlighted the importance of standing against injustice and oppression, as well as the need to respect the holy Quran.

The call to boycott Swedish goods was a strong message to offenders to show that such insulting acts will not be tolerated.

It is important for Muslims around the world to counter any form of disrespect towards their religious beliefs.
