Supporting Arbaeen processions is a priority: Kermanshah governor

The governor of Western Kermanshah province in the west of Iran stressed the importance of supporting the Arbaeen processions.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The governor of Western Kermanshah province in the west of Iran stressed the importance of supporting the Arbaeen processions.

The district of Somar is situated 90 km away from Qasr-e Shirin city, towards the northwest of Kermanshah province. It shares an 86 km boundary with Iraq and comprises two cities, Somar and Naftshahr, and 13 villages.

The Khosravi border, located 15 kilometers from Qasr-e Shirin, serves as one of four borders used by Arbaeen pilgrims.

The Khosravi border is the most convenient entry point from Iran to Karbala. Pilgrims who enter Iraq through this border will pass through Diyala, located northeast of Baghdad. From there, they will reach Kadhimayn, a neighborhood in Baghdad's northern region. After that, they can proceed to Karbala and Najaf.

"We are trying to provide good services to the Arbaeen processions," said Mohammad Tayeb Sahrai, the governor of Kermanshah, on the sidelines of his visit to the infrastructures of the Somar border in Kermanshah.

The governor of Kermanshah stated that the facilities to be installed at the border will contribute to the prosperity of the Somar border even after the Arbaeen pilgrimage.

Arbaeen is a Shia religious observance that occurs forty days after the Day of Ashura. It commemorates the martyrdom of Al-Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of Muhammad, who was martyred on the 10th day of the month of Muharram.
