AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Sheikh Isa Qassim, Bahrain's leading Shia cleric, has described the “victory of Islam” as the ultimate goal behind the sacrifices made by Imam Hussein (AS) during the Battle of Karbala in 680 CE.
In a message posted in Arabic on his Twitter account, Sheikh Isa Qassim stated, "The Karbala revolution, the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the processions, the pulpits, and the mourning rituals, the sacrifices and shedding of tears, all aim to achieve the victory of Islam and its glorious reign on earth…"
As in previous years, Bahrain's Shia community faced significant restrictions in organizing religious ceremonies to commemorate Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hossein (AS) — the revered third Shia Imam and the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
The Bahraini government imposed bans on specific speakers and eulogists from gathering at mosques and Hussainiyas, adding further challenges to the Shia community’s religious observances, according to media reports.
Bahraini security forces also confiscated a number of symbols of Muharram and Ashura, such as flags and banners, from various locations across the country.
