AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Sham-e Ghariban rituals were held in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, with the participation of Bahraini Shia people.
Sham-e Ghariban is a part of the mourning ceremony observed between the sunset of Ashura and the 11th Muharram, with Shias lamenting the tragedies that befell the Ahl-ul-Bayt, the purified progeny of the Holy Prophet of Islam Mohammad (AS), after the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions.
The Bahraini Shia people mourned Imam Hussain's (AS) martyrdom on Friday night, performing Sham-e Ghariban rituals in Manama's streets.
Bahraini top clerics, including Sheikh Mahmoud al-Ali, took part in the rituals along with other people, passing on the Israeli regime's flag to show their anger at the regime's occupation of Palestine.
Delivering a speech about the Ashura and Imam Hussain's (AS) school of thought, Sheikh Mahmoud told the people that the only way to save humanity from the arrogant powers' oppression and defend the truth in the world is to follow Imam Hussain's (AS) path.
Ashura is the 10th day of Muharram. In 61 AH (October 10, 680 CE), Imam Hussein (AS) and his true companions were martyred in the battle against the army of then-time tyrant Yazid I, led by 'Umar b. Sa'd.
Friday, July 28, 2023, Muharram 10, 1445 AH was Ashura day; people in Iran and other parts of the world started mourning rituals either in mosques or in the streets, from the morning, on the anniversary of Imam Hussain's (AS) martyrdom.
