AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Shia Community in Ghana strongly condemned and reacted against the deliberate desecration and burning of the Holy Quran supported by the Swedish Government.
The incident took place when a man, who fled from Iraq to Sweden several years ago, tore up and burned a copy of the Holy Quran outside Stockholm’s central mosque.
In an interview with Iran Press in Accra, Alhaji Saeed Sandow, a member of the Shia Community in Ghana, condemned the act and called the desecration “provocative, ill-considered and unacceptable.”
"Desecration of any reveal scripture by any individual or community should condemn in no certain terms, because the condemnation of the religious sensibilities of any religious system in the world at the pretext of human rights and freedom which is very much condemnable. This is because you are playing with the sensibilities of people especially when you desecrate the Holy Quran or making caricature of the sublime character of any religious figure like Prophet Muhammad (SW), prophet Ibrahim AS, Prophet Isa AS or any other religious figure is like toying with over billions of people on planet earth".
"Looking at what is happening in the world now like the Russia Ukraine war, Syria, Yemen, and so on and so forth and at this critical moment when you make a caricature of the Holy Quran which is the red line for any Muslim, it means you are creating chaos and revoking the sensibilities of over billions of people on planet earth".
Imam Saeed Sandow further called on countries, diplomats, institutions to come together and boycott Swedish products.
"As for us together with the Chief Imam of Shia community Ghana is that each and every country and civilized states, diplomats, institutions, be it policymakers, academician, civil society organizations, international institutions to come together not only to condemn this particular reckless move by the Swedish government but to also boycott Swedish products and put a diplomatic embargo on Sweden, so that the Swedish government will render an unqualified apology to the Muslim world or hand over the perpetrator to any of the Islamic states for possible prosecution."
