Iran’s Deputy FM says Sweden, Denmark have to stop cultural barbarism

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri Kani says setting books and thoughts on fire is not freedom but sheer barbarism as he calls on the Swedish and Danish governments to stop acts of insults against religious sanctities.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri Kani says setting books and thoughts on fire is not freedom but sheer barbarism as he calls on the Swedish and Danish governments to stop acts of insults against religious sanctities.

Bagheri Kani made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran on Sunday with Qatar’s Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, where the two officials discussed bilateral issues, as well as the latest regional and international developments.

Bagheri Kani said that the desecration of the holy Quran is a breach of the basic rights of two billion Muslims, noting that the repetition of this crime in Europe is a clear example of violating the human rights by the so-called human rights advocates.

He noted that all the world governments, especially the Islamic states, are duty-bound to combine efforts to counter this cultural barbarism.

The Qatari official, for his part, referred to growing relations between Iran and Qatar and said that consultations between foreign ministry officials of the two countries are indicative of serious determination on both sides to remove obstacles on the way of further promotion of bilateral relations.

Al Khulaifi voiced his country’s resolve to expand economic ties with Iran.

Both officials underlined the hatred caused by recent acts of insults against the holy Quran among the Muslims around the world while calling for a collective response to the move by the Muslim countries, particularly through the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
