AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): As the person in charge of "pursuing social rights and freedoms, the assistant to the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran considered the chemical bombing of Sardasht by the Iraqi Baath regime as a clear example of genocide.
On June 28, 1987, the Baathist regime of Iraq bombed four densely populated areas of Sardasht city in West Azarbaijan province, northwestern Iran, using chemical bombs. They were exposed to toxic gases and suffered chemical injuries.
The chemical bombing of the border city of Sardasht was the most heinous chemical attack that caused many negative effects and problems, and this city has been called the first victim of chemical weapons in the world after the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima.
In this regard, and according to Iran Press, "Sakineh Sadat paad", the assistant to the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in the pursuit of social rights and freedoms, on Wednesday evening, at a news conference and specialized human rights meeting entitled "The right to keep alive the truth of the Sardasht crime" regarding the victims and veterans of Sardasht Chemical Bombing Pointing out that 85 German companies, 19 French companies, and 18 British and American countries provided chemicals to the Baath regime of Iraq, she said: "So far, no effective action has been taken to condemn these crimes in human societies."
Paad also criticized the dual approach of Western countries on human rights and the embargo on the import of medicines for the injured and Iranian chemical veterans.
The assistant to the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the pursuit of social rights and freedoms also on Wednesday on the sidelines of a visit to the specialized clinic of chemical veterans, saying that the Islamic Republic of Iran uses all its capacities to restore the rights of the Iranian people, and said: "We are trying to publish new and different reports. We should present the crimes committed by the Baathist regime and their allies to the human rights forums."
Sardasht city, with a population of 120,000 is located in the south of West Azerbaijan, northwest of Iran, and enjoys borders with Iraq, and has contributed 856 martyrs and more than 4,000 veterans to the Islamic Revolution.
