Eid al-Ghadir celebrated by Muslims in Ghana

Shia Muslims in Ghana celebrated Eid al-Ghadir, the most important feast in Islam, on Friday.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Shia Muslims in Ghana celebrated Eid al-Ghadir, the most important feast in Islam, on Friday.

Eid al-Ghadir marks the anniversary of the day when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) named his cousin and son-in-law, Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) as His Successor and the Head of the Muslim community.

In an interview with Iran Press on the occasion, The chief Imam of the Shia community of Ghana, Sheikh Abubakar Ahmad Kamaludeen, states the significance of such an occasion.

"This is an important occasion to celebrate the selection of Imam Ali (AS) the successor of Prophets Muhammad (PBUH). The significance of this day is to reawaken the consciousness of our brothers to understand that without leadership we can't do anything as ummah and also to reaffirm our support for the leadership of islam."

"Our obejective is for the Muslims to have solidarity under any circumstances."

He concluded his speech by condemning the sacrilege of the Holy Quran in Sweden, which sparked the anger of the entire Muslim ummah.

"We have one thing as Muslims which is common among us, that is the Holy book of Quran. This Muslim sanctity has been disrespected when some people from Sweden burned its copies."

Eid al-Ghadir is considered by Muslims as a chance to learn more about Imam Ali (AS) and the reason why the Prophet named Him as His Successor. The occasion is marked every year at the end of the Hajj season with celebrations all around the world.
