Daesh born out of US policies: Iranian official

Abbas-Ali Kadkhodaei, a senior legal expert and member of Iran’s Constitutional Council, has stated that “Daesh was born out of US policies”, adding that the responsibility for crimes committed by Takfiri terrorists in Iraq and Syria lies with Washington.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Abbas-Ali Kadkhodaei, a senior legal expert and member of Iran’s Constitutional Council, has stated that “Daesh was born out of US policies”, adding that the responsibility for crimes committed by Takfiri terrorists in Iraq and Syria lies with Washington.

Addressing the second international conference on US human rights in Tehran on Tuesday, Kadkhodaei asserted that American officials have admitted to supporting the Daesh terrorist group.

The legal expert criticized the United States for its blatant disregard for human rights, asserting the need to examine the extent to which the self-proclaimed advocate of human rights has adhered to the principles governing human rights.

He condemned US sanctions as a violation of basic human rights, especially those punitive measures that restrict people’s access to food.

“Can a society be subjected to food sanctions? So, where are the human rights that you have loudly proclaimed?” Kadkhodaei asked.

Americans claim to defend human rights, but their actions do not align with their commitments under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and other human rights documents.

Kadkhodaei then alluded to the US assassination of General Qassem Soleimani, a senior Iranian commander and champion of the fight against US-backed terrorist groups in the region, saying, “Martyr Soleimani was not a threat to the United States, yet he was assassinated by this country.”

Gen. Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), along with his Iranian and Iraqi companions, was assassinated in a US drone strike near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.

Kadkhodaei said the United States must “answer” for this crime.
