AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani has called on the Albanian government to correct its mistake in hosting the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MKO) terrorist organization over the past years.
In a series of tweets posted on Wednesday, Kanaani reiterated the fact that apart from Albania no other country in the world has agreed to host the terrorist group after it was expelled from Iraq in September 2012.
“Because of their terrorist nature, the [MKO] will always be a threat to the security of their hosts, that is why the Iraqi government expelled them and other governments refused to accept them,” Kanaani said in the his tweets in Farsi.
“We hope that the Albanian government will correct its mistake in hosting this terrorist cult,” he added.
On Tuesday, Albanian media reported that MKO terrorists had carried out armed attacks against Albanian police officers when police was inspecting a base operated by the terrorist group in the city Manez, in western Albania.
Late on Tuesday, a security official told IRNA that two people were killed and 36 others were wounded in the clashes at the camp, known as Ashraf-3, which is located to the northwest of the capital Tirana.
Kanaani also said that the Albanian authorities announced the seizure of a number of electronic devices and drones that the MKO members had used to track and direct their terrorist activities.
“They said that with their terrorist and cyber activities, they violated the 2014 agreement with Albania”, which allowed the group to reside in the country, he said while making a reference to a statement by Albanian authorities about the clashes with MKO members.
