AhlulBayt News Agency: Hundreds of Indonesians participated in a demonstration to slam the recent Israeli regime’s incursions into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
Held in front of the Palestinian embassy in Jakarta on Monday, the protest came more than a week after the cabinet of the Israeli regime held a provocative meeting in al-Quds’s Al-Buraq Wall (the Western Wall) tunnels.
Protesters hold placards in solidarity with Palestinians and in condemnation of the occupying regime.
The cabinet meeting was strongly slammed by Palestinians.
Here is a video of the protest released by Newsflare that features remarks made by Palestinian Ambassador to Jakarta Zuhair al-Shun.
"This is a dangerous escalation of the religious war waged by the Israeli occupation against the holy city of al-Quds," said Hamas resistance movement spokesman Hazem Qasem last week.
Observers see the move as an attempt by the regime to impose its so-called “sovereignty” over the occupied city and its holy sites.
According to the Israeli daily Maariv, during the meeting, the regime’s cabinet approved a large budget – NIS60 million ($17m) – and a number of Judaization projects for Jerusalem al-Quds.
The budget and projects are aimed at encouraging more tunnels to be dug beneath Al-Aqsa Mosque which, inevitably, weaken the ancient structure.
Ahmed Ruwaidi, the advisor to Abbas on al-Quds Affairs, said that the Israeli regime is trying to impose its false narrative on the historical reality of the region and to displace the native Palestinian population from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan neighborhoods.
