AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Presidents of Iran and Syria attended the meeting of the high-ranking delegations of the two countries, and emphasised that the relations between Tehran and Damascus, even in difficult periods, despite the severe political and security storms in the Middle East region, have been stable, stressing, "Regional and extra-regional changes have not been able to affect the brotherly relations of the two countries".

Speaking on Wednesday afternoon in the meeting of high-ranking delegations of Iran and Syria, which was held under the chairmanship of the Presidents of Iran and Syria, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi expressed satisfaction with the victory of the government and people of Syria and the Resistance Front against terrorism and passing through difficult times. He said, "Many regional and extra-regional changes have not been able to affect the brotherly relations of the two countries".

The President stated, "Iran-Syria relations are tied to the blood of our dear martyrs, especially martyr Haj Qasem Soleimani, and this name is the symbol of the stability and strength of the relations between the two countries".

Ayatollah Raisi noted, "The government and nation of Syria went through great difficulties and problems, and today we can say that you overcame these problems, and despite the threats and sanctions imposed against you, you were able to win".

The President further noted, "Today, the legitimacy of the position of Iran and Syria, the conformity of this path with rationality, resistance and standing has been fully proven and answered, and those who, until yesterday, had doubts about Iran's position and political position and opinions and views on Syria, are convinced that this position was right and fair".

Emphasising Iran's support and assistance in achieving lasting peace and stability in Syria, Ayatollah Raisi said, "Just as the Islamic Republic stood by the Syrian government and nation in the fight against terrorism, it will also stand by its Syrian brothers in the field of development and progress".

Bashar al-Assad, the President of Syria, also expressed appreciation for the positions and support of the Islamic Republic of Iran of the Syrian government and people in the difficult and critical days of the country and said, "The Syrian government and people will not forget the love and help of their Iranian brothers".

The President of Syria called for the Islamic Republic of Iran to play a greater role in establishing stable peace and security in this country and to be an effective presence in the reconstruction of war-torn areas.

Bashar al-Assad stated, "The relations between Syria and Iran are rich and full of experiences. This is because even in difficult periods, despite severe political and security storms in the Middle East region, relations have been stable".

In this meeting, the Presidents of Iran and Syria, referring to the signing of cooperation documents between the two countries, emphasised the importance of the "comprehensive long-term strategic cooperation programme between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Syrian Arab Republic" in order to secure the interests of the two nations and other nations in the region".
