AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A ritual of Khatm Quran in the holy month of Ramadan was held in Afghanistan’s southern city of Kandahar.
The Tabligh (Islamic propagation) Center affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine organized the Quranic program in cooperation with Imam Reza (AS) Husseiniya (religious center) of the city.
Khatm Quran is a ritual in which a group of Muslims read the Holy Book from the beginning to the end.
It is especially common in Muslim countries during the blessed month of Ramadan.
Ramadan, which will end in Eid al-Fitr either on Friday or Saturday based on sighting the crescent moon of the month of Shawwal, is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar. It is a period of prayer, fasting, charity giving and self–accountability for Muslims around the world.
During Ramadan, Muslims fast (abstain from foods and drinks) from sunrise to sunset.
They also devote a considerable amount of time during this month to reading and contemplating the Quran.
