AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): People in Afghanistan have marked Laylat al-Qadr or the Night of Destiny when Prophet Muhammad received the first verses of the holy book Quran from Angel Gabriel.
This night is considered to be the most blessed and sacred night of the year. Afghans spent the night with prayers and recitations to seek God’s mercy and forgiveness.
According to Islamic scripture, Laylat al-Qadr is better than a thousand months. Muslims believe that on this night, God sends down his angels to earth with his decree for every person. They also believe that their prayers are answered on this night and their sins are forgiven.
For Afghan Muslims, Laylat al-Qadr is also a night of mourning the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali. They honor the legacy and teachings of the first Shia Imam by reciting his sermons and supplications.
In Afghanistan, where decades of war and violence have left many people suffering and traumatized, Laylat al-Qadr is also a time of hope and healing.
Laylat al-Qadr, or the Night of Destiny, is when God determines the fate of every person for the coming year.
Afghans are marking this night with the hope of a brighter future for themselves and their country.
