AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Yemen’s Awqaf ministry launched the 8th edition of the Quran competition dubbed “Martyred Leader” on Tuesday.
The contest is annually organized in memory of Yemeni martyred leader Badreddin Al-Houthi, September26 website reported.
The Awqaf ministry said more than 100 boys and girls compete in two separate sections in the category of memorization of the Holy Quran.
The Quranic event will run in Hudaydah governorate for ten days, according to the organizers.
The governor and deputy governor of Hudaydah addressed the opening ceremony, highlighting the importance of memorizing the Holy Quran and benefiting from its teachings in the fight against enemies and aggressors.
They also underlined the role of Badreddin Al-Houthi in promoting the Quranic culture in Yemen and said the competition is aimed at bringing the new generations closer to the Holy Book and encouraging them to learn the Quran and engage in Quranic and religious activities.
They further elaborated on the virtues of the holy month of Ramadan.
The officials also appreciated those who have financially supported the Quranic competition.
During Ramadan, which is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, Muslims all over the world devote a lot of time to reading and contemplating the Quran and to Quranic activities, such as competition, recitation circles and forums.
