The Dar-ol-Quran Center affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine is organizing Quranic activities and programs in different governorates of Iraq during the holy month of Ramadan.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Dar-ol-Quran Center affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine is organizing Quranic activities and programs in different governorates of Iraq during the holy month of Ramadan.

Karrar al-Shamari, head of the center’s information dissemination department, said they include Khatm Quran programs (reading the Quran from the beginning to the end) in 11 governorates.

There will also be Khatm Quran programs in 18 universities of the country, he noted, the website of the Astan reported.

He said different departments of the Astan support and contribute to the organization of the Quranic activities.

Ramadan, which started on Thursday, is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.

It is a period of prayer, fasting, charity giving and self–accountability for Muslims around the world.

The Quran was revealed to the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) heart in this month.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast (abstain from foods and drinks) from sunrise to sunset.

They also devote a considerable amount of time during this month to reading and contemplating the Quran.

The following photos show the preparations made before the start of Ramadan for holding the annual Khatm Quran program at the holy mausoleum of Imam Hussein (AS) in Karbala.
