Delivering a speech at the annual Quranic meeting that began on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan on Thursday, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said that the number of top Qaris increased in the country such that it was not comparable with before the Islamic Revolution.
He gave an example, saying in Mashhad which was the hub of the holy Quran recitation in the country, there were two or three Qaris, but today there was an extortionate number of Qaris across Iran.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Qaris' mission was the communication of the message of Allah out of His Holy Quran to people.
He advised the people especially the youth to steadfastly recite the holy Quran every day for at least half a page, noting that reciting the holy Quran and listening to it brings divine blessing.
Elsewhere in his speech, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the recitation of the Quran should be mingled with reflecting on the verses, calling on the Quranic experts to find a way to mingle the recitation with the interpretative translation of the verses
He also called on the people to promote hearing and reciting the holy Quran in the country's mosques and turn them into the Quranic bases, so that the people could make benefit from the holy book which he noted was replete with teachings for various aspects of both individual and social life.
