AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): “Hajj; Quranic Development, Islamic Convergence, and Support for Al-Quds” was introduced as Iran’s motto for this year’s Hajj pilgrimage.
This was announced at a planning and coordination meeting attended by the representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs, Hojat-ol-Islam Abdul Fattah Navab, and Head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Seyed Sadeq Hosseini.
Hojat-ol-Islam Navab said the motto includes concepts like ethics, dignity, spirituality, self-improvement, cohesion, unity, power and support for the holy city of al-Quds.
He added that it also underscores the Muslim Ummah’s strength and power in backing Al-Aqsa Mosque.
During the meeting, the latest preparations for dispatching Iranian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for Hajj and issues like Hajj flights, accommodations in Mecca and Medina, and facilities for pilgrims were discussed.
Last month, it was announced that the quota for Iranian Hajj pilgrims this year is 85,000.
Some 39,600 Iranians took part in the 2022 Hajj, which was held in July after two years of suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Every year, except for the past three years that the number of pilgrims was reduced due to the coronavirus pandemic, nearly three million Muslims from around the world gather in the holy city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, for the annual Hajj.
Hajj is a pilgrimage to Mecca that every able-bodied and financially able Muslim is obliged to undertake at least once during their lifetime.
The annual pilgrimage is regarded as one of the pillars of Islam and the largest act of mass pilgrimage in the world.
It is also a demonstration of Muslims’ unity and their submission to Allah.
