AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Concurrent with the Persian New Year and 15th day of the holy month of Sha’ban, Imam Reza holy shrine has finished reconstruction project of Enqelab Eslami Courtyard of the complex to offer better services to the arriving Iranian and foreign pilgrims.
The six thousand and eight-hundred square-meter Enqelab Eslami Courtyard which is publicly known as Atiqi Yard by the people of Mashhad is now at the service of pilgrims of Imam Reza (AS) with a new face.
Talking about details of the reconstruction project, Ghaffarian Asadast, planning and programming deputy of the holy shrine’s maintenance and construction organization said: “Pavement of the Enqelab Eslami Courtyard had been changed over 20 years ago; it needed a new and more resistant pavement, therefore”.
He stated: “Based on our studies, the courtyard needed a thicker flooring stone to be more resistant against different factors including large number of movers and inclement weather”.
Ghaffarian Asadast stressed: “Alongside with the pavement reconstruction project of the courtyard, the golden dome and the steel window also received some repayments to be turned back to proper service. The whole project lasted for about nine months”.
He mentioned: “The water fountain (Saqakhaneh) located at the center of the courtyard was also another important popular point of the place the reconstruction of which needed special attention. The poject added to the number of faucets and made it separated from movement systems of the courtyard”.
Ghaffarian also added: “The steel window and golden porches of the courtyard as two other memorable parts of the yard also received reconstructions as they have not been repaired for years.”
Concluding his remarks, he said: “The lighting installations of the courtyard were also a special job that was done in this project. Also, firefighting standards and fire alarm and fire extinguishing and renovation of all the pavilions on the northern wing were among the other measures included in this project”.
