Noted Pakistani Shia scholar, writer, poet 'Saqib Akbar' passes away

Today, another chapter of struggle ended, the nation has lost a scholarly and noted figure, advocate of unity among Muslims, former Central President ISO Pakistan, Central Deputy General Secretary Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC) of Pakistan and Chairman Al-Basira Trust Syed Saqib Akbar Naqvi has been passed away after a short illness, in a private hospital in Islamabad.

AhlulBayt News Agency: ISLAMABAD, Pakistan; Today, another chapter of struggle ended, the nation has lost a scholarly and noted figure, advocate of unity among Muslims, former Central President ISO Pakistan, Central Deputy General Secretary Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC) of Pakistan and Chairman Al-Basira Trust Syed Saqib Akbar Naqvi has been passed away after a short illness, in a private hospital in Islamabad.

Doctors revealed short ago that he was suffering from a malignant disease like cancer.

The death of Syed Saqib Akbar is a great loss to the nation. A prudent and wise gentleman who was a stable and strong bridge between different schools of thought, especially Shia and Sunni.

He was associated with Imamia Students Organization (ISO) Pakistan during his student days, served as the former central president of ISO Pakistan and as a member of central supervision, he was the central president of ISO Pakistan twice from 1977 to 1979.

He was considered one of the close friends of late martyr Dr. Muhammad Ali Naqvi and martyr Quaid Allama Syed Arif Hussain Al Hussaini.

He spent his entire life in the revolutionary struggle till last breath. A pious revolutionary figure who risked his entire career for the cause of Islam left his high job as an electrical engineer and preferred the work of Millat e Shia.

Together with Quaid Shaheed Allama Arif Hussain Al Hussaini and Dr. Shaheed Muhammad Ali Naqvi, he worked day and night for the betterment of the Shia community.

The late Qazi Hussain Ahmed along with the former Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami was busy working day and night for the establishment of Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC) Pakistan, always trying to solve problems through dialogue and discussion between Shia and Sunni schools of thought.

According to the sources, the funeral prayer of late Syed Saqib Akbar Naqvi will be offered on Wednesday at 1 o’clock in the ground of Jama Imam-ul-Sadiq (AS) G-9/2 Islamabad while the burial will take place in ShahAllah Ditta Town D-12.

In which a large number of relatives and friends including political, social and religious figures are expected to participate.
