Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian issued a message on Monday condoling the demise of the former Palestinian ambassador to Tehran Salah al-Zawawi.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian issued a message on Monday condoling the demise of the former Palestinian ambassador to Tehran Salah al-Zawawi.

The late al-Zawawi, the longest-ever serving ambassador to Iran (1981 – 2022), passed away at a hospital in Tehran earlier today.

The Iranian foreign minister said in his message that he was saddened by the passing of Mr. Zawawi.

Amirabdollahian offered special condolences to Mr. Zawawi’s daughter, Salam al-Zawawi, who replaced his father as the Palestinian ambassador to Iran in 2022.

Also sympathizing with the whole Palestinian nation on this demise, the foreign minister prayed for Mr. al-Zawawi’s soul to rest in peace.

He hailed the effort made by the former ambassador during his long tenure in Tehran and said that during long years of fight against the Zionist enemy and decades of diplomatic presence in the Islamic Republic of Iran, the late Mr. al-Zawawi has always been in the path of fulfilment of the rights of the oppressed people of Palestine, keeping the cause of Palestine alive and defending the holy Quds.

Amirabdollahian expressed hope that the efforts of the Palestinian people, Mr. al-Zawawi in particular, will yield fruit and this land will be fully liberated from the occupying Zionists, with an inclusive government formed all across the country in the near future.
