AhlulBayt News Agency: The Day of Maba’ath is an opportunity to have a better understanding of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). We think that we know him but this is not the case.
On the occasion of Maba’ath, Iqna News talked with Saeed Tavoosi Masroor, a professor at Allameh Tabataba'i University. Here is a summary of his remarks:
One of the most important messages that Maba’ath brings for humanity is the link to monotheism, as it dismisses all false gods, whether in the form of idols or in the form of various thoughts and schools of thought. The message of monotheism has been very attractive to humanity both at that time and afterward. German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe named monotheism as one of the reasons for his interest in Islam.
The Quran notes that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) came to untie the chains that people have set on themselves. And this address is not just for Arabs but also for other ethnicities as well. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) came to eliminate Jahiliyyah and superstitions that were created in the name of religion and to replace them with monotheism.
Justice; An important slogan of Prophet
It was these messages and simple rituals of Islam that caused the religion to spread throughout the world in a short period of time. It soon covered extensive areas from Spain to China and from Yemen to Armenia. This was achieved not just by forces, but its values and slogans. What was its message? One of the most important messages was equality, that there is no difference between humans before God. In the Sassanid period, for instance, specific classes of people could worship at some fire temples.
Manifestations of such behaviors still exist among us. This message of equality is something that every human being understands, and those who followed the right path of the Prophet (PBUH) were loyal to this value. Imam Ali (AS) did not consider expediency in two cases: economic justice and racial justice. This justice was one of the important slogans of the Prophet (PBUH) and when Imam Ali (AS) wanted to implement this law, he was not afraid of enforcing the law on his brother.
These messages, such as justice, monotheism, and equality, were universal messages and attracted many people in that period and in the next centuries. They are still attractive as Islam’s growth can now be witnessed in regions such as Europe.
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said: “I was sent to perfect good character.”
