2nd Regional Islamic Unity Conference kicks off in Gorgan, Iran

A number of Shia and Sunni scholars, elites and religious figures from Iran and the northern border neighboring countries are attending the second Regional Islamic Unity Conference.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Held by World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought the second Regional Islamic Unity Conference kicked off in Iran’s northern city of Gorgan on Wednesday morning.

A number of Shia and Sunni scholars, elites and religious figures from Iran and the northern border neighboring countries are attending the second Regional Islamic Unity Conference.
 
Participants in this event will deliver speech on different themes regarding the world of Islam, proximity of Islamic denominations and building new Islamic civilization in the second phase of the Islamic Revolution.
 
Mohammad Ali Zanganeh, governor of Golestan province in his opening speech hailed the region as a rainbow of ethnical groups which has provided the grounds for coexistence and solidarity among various groups.
 
He said the unity amid diversity of the ethnical groups in Golestan Province can be set as a role model for all other countries.
 
He quoted the Supreme Leader on necessity of unity among Muslims and stressed commonalities of different Islamic denominations in confrontation with the enemies.
 
Governor of Golestan Province stressed,” The fact that over 100 articles have been submitted to the second Regional Islamic Unity Conference illustrates importance of Islamic unity in view of the Muslim leaders and elites.”
 
He highlighted the positive outcomes of the conference on building and boosting solidarity among Muslims in the region.
 
The first Islamic Regional Islamic Unity Conference was held in Iran’s Kurdistan province in Mid-July. Prominent Shia and Sunni clerics from Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan region participated in the event.
 
Regional Islamic Unity conferences are held in line with the annual Islamic Unity Conference held by World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought concurrent with the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
