Sheikh Shahriari: Iran proud of coexistence with Sunni Muslims

Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought hailed the Iranian Sunni community’s loyalty to the Islamic Revolution and highlighted coexistence of Shia and Sunni in Iran.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought hailed the Iranian Sunni community’s loyalty to the Islamic Revolution and highlighted coexistence of Shia and Sunni in Iran.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, in a meeting with Ayatollah Seyyed Kazem Nour Mofidi, representative of the Supreme Leader in Golestan Province, said Iran is proud of peaceful life led by the Shia and Sunni minority in the country.
 
In this meeting held ahead of the second Regional Islamic Unity Conference in Golestan Province, praised the support of Sunni community for the Islamic Revolution and its high ambitions and that the Islamic system believes in their convergence.
 
He warned of the plots hatched by enemies to beat the Islamic Revolution front and said,” Enemies are in ambush to spark discord and spare no effort to promote their plot.”
 
“Enemies have promoted the illusion that Iran is promoting the Shia crescent in a bid to isolate Iran in the world of Islam,” said Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari.
 
He said that the regional Islamic unity conferences are held with the same aim of the annual Islamic Unity Conference.
 
The cleric referred to the positive outcomes of the first Regional Islamic Unity Conference held in Iran’s Kurdistan Province which hosted nearly 600 Iranian and Iraqi scholars.
 
According to Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari several participants in the first round of the Regional Islamic Unity Conference expressed their views, an ambiance of convergence was boosted among Shia and Sunni clerics and hostile plots promoted by enemies was foiled.
 
Top cleric made the comments on the sideline of the meeting with representative of Supreme Leader in Golestan Province ahead of the second Regional Islamic Unity Conference in Iran’s northern city of Gorgan.
