On the occasion of the 13th of Rajab, the anniversary of the birth of Imam Ali, the Commander of the Faithful (‘a), the webinar "The Justice of Imam Ali" was held in English by the General Directorate of the internet department of the Ahl al-Bayt (‘a) World Assembly.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): On the occasion of the 13th of Rajab, the anniversary of the birth of Imam Ali, the Commander of the Faithful (‘a), the webinar "The Justice of Imam Ali" was held in English by the General Directorate of the internet department of the Ahl al-Bayt (‘a) World Assembly.

In this webinar, Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Qasim Muhammadi, who is an expert in the religious sciences, gave a speech in which he discussed the just behavior of Imam Ali (‘a).

This speaker pointed out that Imam Ali’s (‘a) justice was very extensive and widespread. In this webinar, he mostly spoke about the justice and just treatment of the Commander of the Faithful when dealing with the non-Muslims and minorities that were living under his government and the justice that was shown to them.

In his talk, this expert in the religious sciences spoke about the justice of the Commander of the Faithful (‘a) in three areas.

First: The first area he discussed was Imam Ali’s social justice with regard to religious minorities and non-Muslims. In his letter to Malik Ashtar, Imam Ali says, “People are your religious brothers, or at least they are human beings. They are similar to you in the way they have been created and have something in common with you. Their rights as human beings must be respected.”

Second: The second area of his discussion was Imam Ali’s economic justice when dealing with non-Muslims. One day Imam Ali (‘a) was passing by a poor man. He asked his companions, "What is this?" He didn't ask, “Who is this?” The Imam was asking them why there were poor people in society. They told the Imam that this man was Christian. The Imam said, “When this man was young and working, you didn't say that he was Christian. But now that he is old and ailing, you say he is Christian and don't take care of him?!” The Imam ordered for them to give an allowance to this Christian man from the public treasury. The first retirement pension in Islam was given by the Commander of the Faithful (‘a) to a Christian man. This is how Imam Ali’s economic justice was.

Third: The third area that was discussed was the justice of the Commander of the Faithful (‘a) in judicial matters when dealing with non-Muslims. One day a Jewish person wrongfully claimed that an armor belonged to him. Even though Imam Ali was the ruler, he said that they should go to a judge for him to judge between them. That judge mistakenly ruled in favor of the Jew. In accordance with the judge's ruling, the Imam gave the armor to the Jewish man. When that Jewish man left the judge, he said that he couldn’t believe that Imam Ali would go to a judge under his authority, that judge would give a wrong verdict, and the Imam would accept the verdict of that judge. This incident caused the Jewish man to return the armor and become Muslim.
