Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim released a statement on Friday regarding the Bahraini people’s demands and the need for reforms in the country al-Ahed news website reported.
He said the gap between the nation and the political system has grown so much that the people have come to the conclusion that they should not renounce any of their demands.
Sheikh Qassim stressed that in order to fulfill them, introducing reforms is necessary but the government insists on ignoring what the people want.
The more the government insists on its obstinacy, the firmer the people’s determination will grow, and the more people will believe in the need for change, the top cleric stated.
He went on to say that the people will continue on the path to reaching their objective without any hesitation.
Demonstrations have been held in Bahrain on a regular basis since a popular uprising began in the Arab country in mid-February 2011.
People demand that the Al Khalifa regime relinquish power and allow the establishment of a just system representing all Bahrainis.
Manama, however, has gone to great lengths to clamp down on any form of dissent.
