Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought denounced the burning of a copy of Qur’an in Sweden stressing that desecration of Islamic sanctities amounts to violation of freedom of thought and interfaith dialogue.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought denounced the burning of a copy of Qur’an in Sweden stressing that desecration of Islamic sanctities amounts to violation of freedom of thought and interfaith dialogue.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahariari, in his remarks at the virtual meeting on “Hate speech crime against Holy Qur’an in Sweden” held by Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs condemned the cultural invasion against Islam particularly desecration of Islamic sanctities and religious beliefs of Muslims.

He referred to constant violation of the al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli settlers, extremist attacks on mosques and worshiping centers in western countries and said,” Qur’an burning is the new form of the plague carried out with the official permission of the authorities.”

Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought referred to the endeavors by Zionist lobbies across the globe to introduce a tarnished image of Islam in the west and also promote Islamophobia in western countries and said,” Desecration of Islamic sanctities is a crime which has no proportion with human conscience and human rights laws and goes against the simplest principles of coexistence.”

Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari rejected any relation between the heinous act of Qur’an burning and freedom of expression and added,” This insult is in fact a violation of freedom of understanding, interfaith dialogue and entire humanity.”

Top Iranian cleric called for resolute stance and practical measures against sacrilege of Islamic sanctities by the international community in a bid to prevent similar moves by racist and enemies of Islam.

The meeting has been held following an anti-Islam meeting held by Danish-Swedish far-right activist Rasmus Paludan in the capital Stockholm on Saturday where he burned a copy of Qur’an following an hour of anti-Islam speech.
