AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of the Pakistani capital Islamabad to denounce the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden.
The blasphemous act was carried out by a hardline Swedish politician on Saturday. He was guarded by police forces when he set fire to a copy of the Holy Quran in Stockholm.
Holding banners and placards with anti-west slogans, the protesters including religious scholars, traders, and rights activists demanded the UN slam the incident.
Sweden is facing the outrage of Muslim countries including Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia, in which people denounced the Scandinavian nation for the incident. The Pakistani protesters called it a senseless and provocative Islamophobic act that hurts the religious sentiments of over one point five billion Muslims across the globe.
Pakistan has called on the international community to take measures against Islamophobia and sacrilegious acts against Muslims’ sanctities.
