AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The closing ceremony of the Conference Commemorating Grand Ayatollah Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi was held on Sunday, December 11, 2022, in Karbala.
At the beginning of this ceremony, which was held in Sayed Al-Osia (a.s.) complex in Karbala, some of non-Iraqi participants gave speeches on behalf of the foreign delegations present at the conference.
The third speaker at the closing ceremony was Hojat al-Islam Sayed Mofid Hosseini Kuhsari, a representative of Qom Seminary.
At the beginning of his speech, while expressing his gratitude to the organizers of the conference, he conveyed the greetings of the director of seminaries of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the participants of the conference and went on to say, “On behalf of Ayatollah Arafi (Director of Seminaries of Iran), I would like to appreciate all the organizers of this conference, especially Ayatollah Abd Al-Mahdi Karbalai, the religious custodian of the holy shrine of Imam Hussain (a.s.) and Professor Abd Al-Amir Al- Qurayshi, the president of the Karbala Center for Studies and Research.”
The head of the International and Communication Center of Seminaries of Iran stated, “This conference was a great opportunity for participating professors to get to know each other and talk.”
Further, referring to the importance of the current historical moment, Hosseini Kuhsari expressed, “We are now at a crucial and historical turning point where the balance of powers and civilizations are changing. In this situation, Islamic civilization must reach its true position.”
In describing Islamic civilization, he said, “Unlike some other civilizations, Islamic civilization is comprehensive. This civilization combines politics and religion; governance and ethics; religious commitment and practical issues of society; national interests and international interests: the global approach of culture and national subcultures etc.”
“Grand Ayatollah Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi was a civilizational man,” the Iranian thinker emphasized, “It is necessary to benefit from his thought and action. In restoring Islamic civilization, the cooperation between Iran and Iraq is required. There are many commonalities that we can act upon.”
“Holding such conferences strengthens the relationship between these two countries and is considered an important step in the direction of civilizational movements,” Hosseini Kuhsari emphasized.
“This year marks the 100th anniversary of the migration of Grand Ayatollah Haj Sheikh Abd Al-Karim Haeri to Qom and the revival of the seminary of the city. On this occasion, a big conference will be held, one of the topics of which will be “The relationship between the seminaries of Iran and Iraq”. God willing, we will use your research in that conference,” continued the head of the International Complex for Research and Education of the Seminaries of Iran.
Also, while welcoming the holding of the second part of the conference commemorating Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi, Hosseini Kuhsari expressed, “We will also benefit from the second part of the conference that will be held in Shiraz.”

It should be mentioned that the Commemoration Conference for Ayatollah Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi is the third of the Series of International Conferences for the Revival of the Heritage of the Ulama of Karbala which dedicated to commemorating and revival the works of the ulama of Karbala.
The organizer of these series of conferences is the Karbala Center for Studies and Research, the Scientific Section of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (a.s.). Previously, Karbala Center held the first and second conferences to commemorate Allameh Vahid Behbahani, and great faqih and hadith narrator Ibn Fahd Hilli.
The title of the 3rd conference of these Series of International Conferences, was “Ayatollah Mirza Mohammad Taghi Shirazi - Thoughts and Leadership”, which was held by Research Center of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (a.s.) in cooperation with the Shiraz University as partner organizer.
The opening ceremony of this conference was held in the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (a.s.) on Saturday, December 10, 2022, and then, after Maghrib and Isha prayers, researchers from different countries presented their articles in the evening scientific session which was held in Sayed al-Osia Complex.
On Sunday morning, December 11, 2022, the scientific session continued their activities, and the closing ceremony was held on Sunday evening.
