AhlulBayt News Agency:  Today is the anniversary of the missile attack of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps on "Ayn al-Asad" US air base in Iraq; An attack that had wide coverage in the world media.

In response to the terrorist activities of the American government in martyring Lt General Qassem Soleimani, the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps targeted the US air base "Ain al-Asad" in Anbar province of Iraq on January 8, 2020, with more than 10 missiles.

In this operation, 13 ballistic missiles of Fatih-313 and Qiyam missiles were fired at the Ayn al-Asad base, which, according to Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force, accurately hit their targets and destroyed important American military equipment in this base.

Donald Trump, then President of the United States claimed after the missile operation of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps that Iran's missile attack on Ayn al-Asad did not kill or injure anyone, but the Pentagon announced in February of the same year: 109 soldiers with traumatic brain injuries have been identified.

In the first days after this attack, the American CNN TV channel and also some European media reported on the fear and panic of the American soldiers and the chaotic situation of the Ayn al-Asad base on the night of the Iranian missile attack.

The images that CNN and other media published from Ayn al-Asad showed a large amount of destruction of American facilities.

General McKenzie, then head of the American Central Command, admitted that he had never seen such an attack before, and IRGC missiles landed on American soldiers.

Lt Colonel Timothy Garland, the commander of Ayn al-Asad base at the time of the Iranian missile attack, said: "It was really scary, I have never seen anything like this. We were in the shelter. Every time a missile hit, the blast wave shook the entire shelter. We didn't know what was happening outside."
