AhlulBayt News Agency: Abdulsalam Karimi, advisor to the Iranian president on the affairs of ethnic and religious minorities, has warned that any person who promotes unity is godly and those who drive a wedge are satanic.
The Sunni cleric made the remarks in a Thursday night gathering to commemorate the birthday anniversary of Jesus Christ in Urmia, noting any voice that echoes unity is divine-oriented and on the contrary, any voice that sows discord is Satan-oriented.
Karimi also said that we all think of Iran’s prestige and we will stand against separatism.
Pointing to the fact that all followers of different religions and tribes enjoy similar rights in the country, he argued that Christians and Zoroastrians lead a peaceful life among Muslim brothers and sisters and that they do not have any sort of complaint in terms of social and economic issues.
For his part, Archbishop of the Chaldean Catholic Church of the northwestern Iranian city of Urmia Thomas Mirem underlined that Iran is a safe habitat for members of communities and followers of religions.
The harmonious lifestyle of different tribes and religious groups in West Azarbaijan Province of Iran can turn into an example for other countries, he said.
The close and friendly ties among different ethnicities prove the observation of democracy in Iran, the archbishop noted, adding that the presence of the president’s advisor and other officials in the ceremony encourages the Christian community.
