Iran to continue cooperation on int'l fight against terrorism: Envoy

Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Amir-Saeed Iravai says that the country will continue to cooperate with international efforts to fight terrorism.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Amir-Saeed Iravai says that the country will continue to cooperate with international efforts to fight terrorism.

Iravani said on Friday that the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue its cooperation with all countries, including those in South and West Asia, particularly Pakistan, in the preemptive and direct fight against terrorism.

“Iran and Pakistan, as two neighbors, have always shared sorrows and happiness, challenges and opportunities, and have both suffered from terrorism,” said Iravani as he was speaking at the 8th anniversary of remembrance of the victims of a terrorist attack against a state school in Peshawar, Pakistan.

The Iranian diplomat said that the country is one of the main victims of terrorism in the world with some 17,000 people martyred in terrorist operations over the past decades as he reiterated that Iran’s fundamental stance is to condemn terrorism in any type and method.

He recalled the fact that the Islamic Republic of Iran was one of the first countries to condemn the 2014 Peshawar school terrorist attack as it offered condolences to the bereaved family members and the Pakistani nation and government.

Iravani also referred to a recent terrorist attack by the Daesh terrorist group in Shah Cheraq Mausoleum in Iran’s southern city of Shiraz in which 14 people were martyred.
