AhlulBayt News Agency: The semifinal round of a nationwide Quran competition organized by Iran’s Imam Ali (AS) Dar-ol-Quran Center got underway.
This is the 16th edition of the contest annually held by the center for Quran activists across the country to promote learning the Quran and identify Quranic talents.
The contenders are competing in the categories of recitation, Tarteel, and memorization of the Holy Quran (at different levels).
Those in the recitation and Tarteel categories send recorded files of their recitation to the organizing committee and the panel of arbiters will choose those who will make it to the finals based on their performance in terms of Lahn (rhythm), Sawt (beautiful voice), Tajweed, Waqf (pause) and Ibtida (start).
Those attending the memorization category take systemic memorization exams in this stage.
Nineteen Quran experts in men section and 22 Quran experts in the women section serve as members of the panel of arbiters.
The names of those qualifying for the finals will be announced by the center on Tuesday, December 13.
