AhlulBayt News Agency: The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry deplored Western governments’ fake advocacy for human rights, saying they have given an arbitrary definition of riots and protests after categorizing terrorists as good and bad.
In a post on his Twitter account on Sunday, Nasser Kanaani lashed out at the foreign officials that have presented themselves as advocates of human rights in other states while their own regimes have a dark record of plotting coups and conspiracies, interference, and starting devastating wars that have claimed millions of lives.
The irony is that despite their fake human rights gestures, those authorities have failed to hide their anti-human rights nature, the spokesman stated.
“The popular protests in the UK, Germany, France, Canada and Australia are bad and deserve crackdown, but the riots in their target countries are good and deserve support,” Kanaani wrote with a hint of sarcasm.
The Iranian spokesman added that the leaders of those Western regimes have given an arbitrary definition of riots and protests after categorizing terrorists as good and bad.
His comments came after British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said the police will get "whatever powers they need" from the government to crack down on disruptive protests by groups such as Just Stop Oil.
