Turkish Zilikan military base in Iraq attacked with four rockets

Several rockets on Saturday night targeted an Iraqi base housing Turkish forces in northeast of Mosul city, no casualties were reported.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Several rockets on Saturday night targeted an Iraqi base housing Turkish forces in northeast of Mosul city, no casualties were reported.

The four rockets were fired in the direction of Zilikan military base in north of Nineveh province, Mohammed Amin, head of the local administration, confirmed in a statement.

An armed group, known as Ahrar al-Iraq, has claimed responsibility for the incident, saying it used four Grad 122mm rockets to hit the base at around 9:00 p.m., as cited by Kurdistan 24.

However, no people were harmed in the attack, with no confirmed reports of serious material damages to the base either.

The Zilikan base is often targeted with rockets. This latest incident is the first one since the formation of the new Iraqi government led by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani.

In early October, the Turkish base came under a similar rocket attack without resulting in casualties or material damage to the site.
