AhlulBayt News Agency: Member of the Jordanian Parliament and Vice President of the Arab Parliament, Khalil Atiyya, has called on the Arab parliaments and parliamentary committees to act urgently in order to lift the Gaza siege and to release the Palestinian MPs held in Israeli jails.
In a press statement on Thursday, MP Atiyya hailed the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds for organizing a parliamentary campaign to call for ending the Israeli siege imposed on Gaza for 16 years, stressing the importance of the international efforts in exposing the Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people.
“Five Palestinian MPs are currently held in Israeli jails,” MP Atiyya underlined, noting that Israel even rejects the international calls demanding the release of the al-Quds prisoner Ahmad Al-Manasra who has been placed under solitary confinement.
MP Atiyya underlined that the Arab Parliament has recommended the establishment of a committee responsible for forming an Arab parliamentary coalition to counter Israel's apartheid and boycott the Israeli parliament on the international level.
He added that the Arab Parliament has called for activating the international convention against the crime of apartheid adopted by the United Nations in 1973.
