Al-Wefaq calls on "Manama dialogue guests" to urge regime stop repression, engage in dialogue

The Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society said that the Manama Dialogue in the Bahraini capital "is being held at a time when Bahrain is plagued by the largest political and security crisis in its history, and at a time when the regime rejects all calls by the United Nations and the world for dialogue with the people, who are paying a hefty price for demanding democratic transition, social justice and respect of human rights.

Ahlulbayt News Agency: The Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society said that the Manama Dialogue in the Bahraini capital "is being held at a time when Bahrain is plagued by the largest political and security crisis in its history, and at a time when the regime rejects all calls by the United Nations and the world for dialogue with the people, who are paying a hefty price for demanding democratic transition, social justice and respect of human rights.

"Al-Wefaq said in a statement, issued on November 20, "the 18th summit of 'Manama Dialogue 2022', which kicked off, Saturday, November 19, began in the Bahraini capital, Manama, where a number of countries and diplomatic, military and security agencies meet to talk about conflicts and regional security at a time when the language of internal dialogue is prohibited, while pursuing the policy of repression and silencing voices."Officials from different countries are meeting to talk about regional and international conflicts "in a country that has been experiencing conflict for years. The regime is attempting to exploit this conference to conceal the reality of the political, human rights and security situation in a country that rejects internal dialogue," according to the statement.

The "Manama Dialogue" hosts diplomacy, security and defense officials from the world's largest countries and a number of countries in the region, organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies in the Middle East. Meanwhile, the Government of Bahrain is paying a great deal of attention to the Manama Dialogue for the financial and logistical support it provides. Al-Wefaq stressed that the Manama Dialogue is held in the Bahraini capital at a time when Bahrain is gripped by the largest political and security crisis in its history, and at a time when the regime rejects all calls by the United Nations and the world for dialogue with the people, who are paying a hefty price for their demands for democratic transition, social justice and respect of human rights, which is the reality that has led Bahrain to deteriorating economic growth and development in the absence of unprecedented national consensus and harmony.

"Hundreds of citizens are languishing in the notorious prisons of the Bahraini regime, including opposition leaders and symbols, such as opposition leader Sheikh Ali Salman and a number of scholars, academics and activists for reasons related to freedom of opinion and expression and calling for dialogue and democratic transformation," the statement added.

Al-Wefaq Society stressed "While Al-Wefaq welcomes Bahrain's guests who represent real countries, which reflects the character of the people of Bahrain, we call on them to demand that the Bahraini regime stop its political repression, oppression, marginalization, tyranny and rejection of internal dialogue, and to respond to international calls and UN recommendations, stressing the need to reshape the authorities through serious and comprehensive political dialogue that paves the way for building a just democratic state."
