AhlulBayt News Agency: A female member of Iran’s parliament says she and other Iranian officials have sought to correct the wrong impression about the life of women in Iranian society during a representation they made at the United Nations headquarters.
We urged some of the authorities (at the UN) to come and see for themselves the women in Iran … so that they can witness the path taken by Iranian women over the past 40 years and the distinct progress they have made, Zohreh Elahian said on Tuesday.
Elahian said women currently account for a third of professors and lecturers in the Iranian universities, adding that literacy rate among the female population in Iran has topped 99.3%.
She also urged other countries not to believe what the media say about Iran, adding them Iranian women are effective in political affairs of the country.
