AhlulBayt News Agency: An old man from Egypt who has calligraphed the Quran three times wishes to do it again, this time at the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina.

Abdul Hakim Nouffel, 70, who lives in a small village in Egypt’s Gharbia Governorate, says his eldest son first urged him to write the Quran given his skills in Arabic calligraphy, Cairo24 website reported.

His four children helped him in acquiring the required tools and paper and then he started the calligraphy.

He started the calligraphy in a room in his house where there is little noise and distraction.

He did it working after Asr prayers and continuing well into midnight.

The first time, Abdul Hakim wrote the Quran in four parts and it took him over six month to complete the task.

In a matter of 600 days, he managed to finish the calligraphy of three copies of the Holy Book.

The Quran has 30 Juzes (parts), 114 Surahs (chapters) and 6,236 verses.

Despite all the difficulties and challenges, writing the Quran gives him a sense of great joy and happiness.

He says his wife’s encouragements and help have played a major role in making the achievement.

Now he hoped he can write the fourth copy of the Quran along with his wife the Prophet’s mosque.
