AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A group of Iranians, among them war veterans, gathered in front of the German embassy in Tehran to protest against the German government for what they called Berlin's role in the recent riots in Iran.
The protesters, including ordinary people and veterans of the 8-year Iraqi-imposed war on Iran in the 1980s, carried placards and chanted slogans against the German government for its record of supporting former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein and its role in the recent unrest in Iran. The demonstrators also vented their anger on the German chancellor and foreign minister.
On Monday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman criticized Germany for its unconstructive initiative to classify the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as a “terrorist organization”. Condemning Germany’s move as an irresponsible measure, Nasser Kana'ani said Tehran hopes that the government of Germany and other governments would take account of the outcome of their unconstructive measures.”
Iranian officials believe repeating such an approach by Germany and other EU member states towards Iran, which is based on miscalculations and misinformation, will once again expose the Union to failure.
