India strongly condemns terror attack on Shah Cheragh shrine in Iran's Shiraz

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs issued a strong condemnation of the terror attack on the Shah Cheragh shrine in Shiraz, Iran on Saturday.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Indian Ministry of External Affairs issued a strong condemnation of the terror attack on the Shah Cheragh shrine in Shiraz, Iran on Saturday.

At least 13 people were murdered and 40 more were injured in a terrorist attack on a Shia holy shrine in the southern Iranian city of Shiraz.

"We extend our deep condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Iran," the official spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Arindam Bagchi tweeted along with the official statement.

"India strongly condemns the terror attack at the Shah Cheragh shrine in Shiraz, Iran. We extend our deep condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Iran," the official statement read.

The statement further stated: "This heinous attack is another reminder that terrorism continues to pose one of the biggest and critical threats to international peace and security and the need of the hour is for countries of the world to unite and combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations."

On Wednesday (October 26), a terrorist armed with a machinegun opened fire on the pilgrims and evening prayer worshippers at the Shah Cheragh holy shrine in Shiraz, martyred 15 innocent people, including some women, children, and elderly folks, and seriously wounded tens of others.

Security forces of Shiraz rushed to the shrine and successfully arrested the terrorist after he was injured in armed clashes by police.

The ISIS terrorist group claimed responsibility for the heinous act.
